Playoff Rules

Here are the updated rules for the playoff. New language has been added to clarify any areas that may have not been clear during the season.

Pitching Rules Confirmation

1) Initially, nothing changes between now and Tuesday. The pitching week will still end Sunday, July 24th. A new pitching week begins on Monday, July 25th. This new week only resets the “maximum outs per week” category of pitching.

2) Anyone who hits the “max outs per game” or “maximum consecutive day outs” today or tomorrow must still take their required rest. For example, a 12A pitcher who goes 12 outs on Sunday must still rest on Monday and Tuesday before pitching on Wednesday. Or, a Pony pitcher who goes 9 outs on Saturday and 9 outs on Sunday must also take Monday and Tuesday off, due to hitting the 18 out maximum for consecutive days.

3) HOWEVER, things change on Wednesday. Starting Wednesday, EVERY PITCHER has a clean slate. Even if your pitcher pitches his maximum outs on Tuesday night, he is allowed to go on Wednesday. (I’m not saying that’s wise – I’m just saying it’s allowed.)

4) During the playoffs, as the rules state, there are no required rest period. Each age group does have a maximum outs per game (6, 12 or 18, depending on the league) and max outs for the tournament (18, 24, or 36, depending).
